"For a fresh start" Steve is the Democratic candidate for congress in Ca-48 (south Orange County).

Bush and Campbell [Ca-48] dump on Veterans again.

Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 04:01:04 PM PDT

On July 1, the Bush administration imposed a 10.6 percent cut in Medicare payments to doctors who care for millions of older Americans.  The cuts are not a budget issue, instead, Republicans are protecting powerful insurance companies at the expense of Medicare patients’ access to doctors.

Congress passed a bipartisan over ride bill [HR 3661] that Bush vetoed today.  Congress promptly over rode the veto a few hours later.

There is a subtle aspect to this drama you may not recognize at first blush that proves "Support the Troops" on the lips of the Republicans is hollow campaign rhetoric.

A Shocking Red-District Poll [Updated #2]

Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 08:45:11 PM PDT

A 400 person, demographically balanced, independent poll shows that even in the reddest district, Republicans are in trouble.  See the results of the poll in California's 48th District with a 26% Democratic registration.

The Obama/McCain reversal

Sun Jun 08, 2008 at 10:36:43 AM PDT

Obama has co-opted the Republican strategy of speaking of values, while McCain talks about 10 point plans.  Pray the "experts" can't change their strategies and we will see victory in November.

[Updated] A Monday morning funny

Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 08:37:47 AM PDT

Here is a music video that some find funny, others find heart breaking.  In 3 1/2 minutes I set out 7 years of scandal.

Music Video: More Republican Scandals

I have compressed 7 years of Republican scandals into a 3 1/2 minute music video I wrote and recorded.  Check it out and send it to your friends.

Report From a California Obama Caucus

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 06:49:45 PM PDT

Today at 3:00 p.m., throughout California, Democrats met in caucus to select delegates to the National Convention in Denver.  Here is my report, as a candidate, about one caucus in very red Orange County.

Help - David vs Goliath

Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 10:56:52 AM PDT

I am challenging John Campbell [R, CA-48] the sixth richest member of congress.  My challenge is truly a David vs. Goliath battle -- and we know how that one turned out.

Duplicity on the environment

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 11:51:20 AM PDT

John Campbell [R, CA-48] is at it again.  He continually expresses concern for the environment (could he have taken a poll?) yet just voted to sustain Bush's veto of the very bill he says he supported.  If you look at his history (and ratings from environmental groups), it should come as no surprise.

Earmark Hypocrisy

Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 09:20:56 AM PDT

John Campbell [R, CA-48] thinks his public attacks on earmarks, including broadsides against Andre Agasi's highly touted charter school in Las Vegas, a Sherwin-Williams research project, John Murtha, and Charles Rangel's education center, mark him as a fiscal conservative for his base.  But Campbell's votes in 2006 during the Republican control of the house mark him as a fiscal hypocrite.

Reps knock off ActBlue.

Thu Nov 15, 2007 at 03:35:02 PM PDT

It had to happen.  The Reps have opened an internet fund-raising site.  The scary part is that Keith A. Davis of Huckaby Davis Lisker (who previously worked for Bush-Cheney '04) is the Treasurer.  ActBlue should take a look at some the innovations that I describe below.

East Berlin - 1970

Mon Nov 12, 2007 at 06:51:13 PM PDT

November 9 marks the 18th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.  Steve Young writes about his trip to East Berlin in 1970 and what he learned about freedom.

Waterboarding - defined by Rep Congressmen

Thu Nov 08, 2007 at 02:43:31 PM PDT

A local newpspaper published John Campbell's [R. Ca-48] answer to the question, "Do you think if [Mukasey] is confirmed as the next attorney general Congress should move swiftly to approve a law banning waterboarding, and would you vote for such a law?  Would you be surprised to read that . . .

Heart of darkness.

Wed Nov 07, 2007 at 04:30:06 PM PDT

I previously posted concerning John Campbell’s [CA-48] assertions that veterans "commit fraud."  Campbell [Ca-48] attacks veterans (2 videos)  Proof is surfacing that Campbell’s statement was not a gaffe, but evidence of a heart of darkness.

[Ca-48] When unsure, ask for advice.

Mon Nov 05, 2007 at 04:19:49 PM PDT

I need some serious advice.  As a candidate, several times this weekend, I posted two videos that I thought would get a lot of attention, highlight how out of touch John Campbell [R, Ca-48] is, and develop buzz for my campaign with the netroots -- to my chagrin -- nothing.  What did I do wrong?  I don't want to repeat the mistakes in the future and I am humble enough to take advice, no matter how brutal.

I've posted below, the Friday morning post(with the videos and links) just as it appeared.

Note:  I know that "repeating" posts is not Kosher.  This is not a repeat, it's a request for advice and help.

Thank you,

Give it to me straight [Ca-48].

I need some serious advice.  As a candidate, I posted two videos I wanted to get traction on for our campaign with the netroots -- and nothing.  Can you tell me what I did wrong so I don't repeat the mistakes?  I've posted the what I did Friday morning (with the videos and links) just as it appeared.

Note:  I know that "repeating" posts is not Kosher.  This is not a repeat, it's a request for advice and help.

Kick-in-their-teeth video

Sat Nov 03, 2007 at 07:56:31 AM PDT

John Campbell's [R, Ca-48] unscripted answer to a question, disclosed how he really feels about veterans.  It's his first "macaca" statement of the campaign.
Three veterans were there, heard it, and go on record in our latest ad.  Watch it here.  I have also posted a second video that explains why veterans matter so much to me.

A California Macaca! (2 videos)

Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 05:51:38 AM PDT

Three veterans heard John Campbell's [R, Ca-48] macaca statement. They go on the record to tell the truth, and to demand that Campbell apologize to veterans.

The photo says it all [updated]

"You're doing a heck of job, Johnny."

The picture says it all.  John Campbell (R, Cal-48) is in Bush's pocket.  We must get rid of his rubber stamp. Let your anger grow then go to our ActBlue site,

http://www.actblue.com/...

and please recommend us so we get the attention.

[What I would really like to find is a photo of Campbell with Cheney!  My contribution totals would go through the roof.]
